The Vision: Over a single long weekend, using a self-guided tour format, the general public will be able to visit open studios of local artists, to view and purchase original works.

DATES: March 5th-8th, 2021. Beginning with an Event Launch on the evening of Friday March 5th, followed by the Labour Day long weekend, March 6th, 7th & 8th. We propose studios open from 10-4 Sat-Monday

FEE: The Application Fee for each individual artist to be included in the Bendigo Open Studios 2021 listing, is estimated to be between $70.00- $125.00 (TBC). This fee includes the artist in the following promotion events:

  • Inclusion in the Bendigo Open Studios website, with a listing of each individual artist and details about ticketing and directions

  • Social media marketing (Facebook campaigns and Instagram),

  • Recognisable studio signage (flags),

  • Hardcopy media distributed throughout the Bendigo CBD and for each studio (DL flier with map),

  • Attendance at the Open Studios Media Launch on Friday 5th March, where they may provide either ONE larger OR THREE smaller examples of their work for preview and presale.

It does NOT include:

  • The cost of Public Liability insurance coverage - a requirement of application

  • The POS equipment at each venue

  • Venue hire (if a different space is sought for display of artworks from the artist's original studio)

  • Cost for staffing of studio

  • Cost of materials for displaying artworks

Boundaries:

The studio must be located within a 15min drive from Bendigo CBD in any direction. These are the landmarks for the boundaries.

The Process of Application: To be considered for the Bendigo Open Studios 2021 the artist must:

  • complete an EOI form and submit it before November 30th.

  • have a dedicated space (studio) where their art is created,*and is:

○ within the designated Bendigo boundaries

○ not difficult to find

○ easy to access by members of the public

○ covered by third party insurance (Artist to provide proof of coverage - Certificate of currency)

*Artists without a dedicated studio may apply with an alternate location they have sourced e.g. Community Centre. If forming a collaboration of artists, for shared use of a studio space, groupings should not exceed three members, and, desirably, should include contrasting types of works. Each artist in a collaboration must still submit an individual BOS 2021 Artist Application Form and fulfil the application requirements)

(Please note: It is the intention of the organisers to propose limited alternate presentation space (e.g. within cafes and shop venues) for those who reside outside of the boundaries, though the preference would be for actual studios to be used.)

Providing personal details: After having their EOI approved, all artists will receive the BOS.2021 Artists Application Form and Fee Invoice to be completed and returned before December 31st and including the following:

  • Payment of the nominated fee

  • nomination of a minimum of TWO complete days (10am - 4pm) for listing of the studio as open to the public.

  • five digital images of works to be exhibited, illustrating clearly the style of the work to be displayed. This material should be a true representation of the Artist's work.

  • a biography (of no longer that 100 words)

  • a clear image of the artist, preferably in-front of the studio venue.

These details will be used for the Bendigo Open Studios 2021 website and marketing materials.

The committee may also request further personal information, for use in Website Blogs or media releases.

  • evidence of compliance with any instructions from the Bendigo Open Studios 2021 committee regarding Covid19. This may include, but not limited to, the listing of all attendees, either by the use of a sign in book, or digital scan of tickets.

( Please note: The BOS committee will not be liable for any copyright infringement issues relating to images supplied. It is suggested that images supplied include a watermark or similar masking effect)

Participating studios must be approved by the Bendigo Open Studios 2021 committee. All decisions of the committee are final.
