Sharon Hocking is a local Bendigo artist whose work is inspired by the beauty of flowers and colour. Working between abstraction and realism, she creates expressive floral paintings using acrylics, charcoal, oil sticks and inks. Through layers of colour, texture and loose brushstrokes, her vibrant contemporary works suggest floral forms, inviting the viewer to interpret what they see rather than revealing every detail.

Alongside her art practice, Sharon is a primary school teacher and draws constant inspiration from her students' creativity. Their curious and uninhibited approach to making art encourages her to paint with the same confidence, embrace experimentation and trust the process. This influence brings a sense of energy and spontaneity, and a lot of colour to every painting she creates.
