The Emotion of the Landscape – Neil Gude.

Whether it’s the breathtaking expanse of a grand vista, the intimacy of a forest walk or the hash beauty of an arid countryside, we all at times have emotional responses to a landscape.

Neil aspires to re-ignite this emotional response in the viewers of his art. Painting predominantly on location, Neil seeks out the essence of the landscape and believes that capturing the feeling of the first moment of observation is key to his work. He chooses the medium of watercolour for its fluid, spontaneous nature. This helps maintain an important freshness to the work and facilitates the exploration of the emotional response.
